A Charity Built on Kindness

Hillingdon Shopmobility is a registered charity run solely by volunteers. We provide mobility equipment hire so that anyone with restricted mobility can enjoy a day out shopping in Uxbridge town centre.

Located on the 2nd floor of The Chimes Shopping Centre, we're easily accessible with disabled parking bays right next to our office.

Whether your condition is permanent or temporary — a broken leg, recovering from surgery, or a long-term disability — our service is here for you. No referral needed, no complex forms. Just bring printed ID with your name and address on your first visit and you're ready to go.

Getting set up takes just minutes. Here's how it works.

Visit Our Office

Come to the 2nd floor of The Chimes Shopping Centre, Uxbridge. We're open Tuesday to Friday.

Bring Your ID

On your first visit, bring printed identification showing your name and address. That's all we need.

Choose & Go

Select your equipment, pay the daily rate, and off you go! Enjoy your day out in Uxbridge.

Our Journey

Over 25 Years of Service

From a portacabin to The Chimes — our story of community support.

1997

The Beginning

Hillingdon Shopmobility was established through a partnership with DASH (Disablement Association of Hillingdon) to serve the local community.

1998

Doors Open

On 26 July 1998, we opened our very first unit — a portacabin in the Pavilions Shopping Centre. The journey had begun.

2001

Moving to The Chimes

On 6 March 2001, we relocated to The Chimes Shopping Centre when it first opened, giving us a permanent, accessible home.

2023

A Fresh Start

After facing funding reductions and pandemic-related closure, we reopened on 3 July 2023, now run entirely by volunteers. We're proud to be one of only two original outlets still here.

2024

25 Years at The Chimes

We celebrated 25 years of serving the Hillingdon community from The Chimes, with an anniversary celebration attended by volunteers, guests, and local MP Danny Beales.
